Introduction

My favorite cuisine is Chinese because it is made of a lot of sea food, meats, and vegetables. It is different from Japanese cuisine and I am impressed by the Chinese taste. Japanese food is light and weak while Chinese one is thick and tasty. A Chinese dish can be divided by 10 kinds of taste depends on restaurant. Each cuisine has particular recipe and taste is completely different. So, there are uncountable dishes in China. When considering why Chinese food is so tasty, I notice two main points: ingredients and spices.
China is really big country that farms as well as fish, so they are able to make many ingredients. Over 300 million of people in China work in agriculture. China mainly produces the following: rice, wheat, potatoes, tea, pork, barley, and fish. Ten percent of China’s land can produce enough food to support twenty percent of the world population. In addition to China’s wide production of ingredients, China is a country that makes a wide variety of dishes. Because each state in China produces a different style of food, each taste represents a different society and culture.
A traditional meal in China consists of 108 dishes called “Manchu Han Imperial Feast.” When wealthy people celebrate, they eat 108 dishes to spread over the course of a couple of days. When they make these foods, they have to use seasonings and spices to add character to each dish. Usually, eleven spices are based on Chinese dishes. Even though Chinese dishes are simple, exquisite taste come from it. In preparing the “Manchu Han Imperial Feast” there must a lot of creativity so that just the basic eleven spices can make such a big feast.
Because of the reasons listed above, I realize why Chinese food is called the best food in the world. The process of making Chinese dishes is so elaborate and those masters of Chinese cuisine must have gone a really long way to make it. I like to go Chinese restaurant to eat food as well as cook Chinese cuisine myself. I aspire to make a delicious Chinese-Japanese Sushi someday.
